Highlights of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Baranggay Governance

Barangay is the basic political unit which serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of government policies, plans, and programs, projects and activities in the community.
To cope with the challenge of delivering quality service to its constituents, there is a need to functionalize the various Barangay Based Institutions (BBIs) as an instrument for development. Thus, the Governor’s Award for excellence in Barangay Governance is conceptualized, to give recognition to the Barangay as well as its officials and functionaries for contributing significant impact in the socio-economic aspects of the LGU.
The Governor’s Award for Excellence in Barangay Governance was established through Memorandum Order Number Five (5) Series of 2009 issued by Hon. Felipe Hilan A. Nava M.D., Governor of the Province of Guimaras.
Provincial Award Committee composed of DILG Provincial Director, Governor’s office Representative, PNP Provincial Director, PCL-Guimaras Chapter President, and Representative from PSWDO, NGO Representative and NMYL President.
