Thank you for starting this bread for the school program again, although are these free for all pupils or are they have to pay? The one thing I used to look forward to during recess is to buy this bread.

But after hearing all about our malnourish children in the island, I would like to suggest something, how about planting fruits and vegetables around our school grounds and we (having to live abroad) can perhaps make a regular donation of tin stuffs to cook with these produce. The nutritional benefits of Balunggay has been recognized not only by local researchers but also by international scientists. Even suggesting Balunggay as a miracle vegetable. As stated Balunggay is rich in Vits. A & C, iron and high-density lipoprotein or good cholesterol. Adding, it is also rich in calcium and has four times the calcium in milk. contains two times protein in milk, three times the potassium in bananas and four times the vitamin A in carrots. (Copy of this printed article can be emailed to you if requested)

Kapayas, okra, petchay, saging and much more can easily be grown in our school grounds preferably than erecting brick walls. We also need to encourage and educate all our parents to do same at home ground. The children itself can practice this idea at home having not to rely on any school for their good health.

I am willing and happy to organize the asking of sponsorship from our Guimarasnon people living abroad if list is provided (for convenience cp num. or email add) and if trust can be established between donors and donee.

A group of parents can be nominated each week to take turns to do the cooking at the school even if it means in a daily basis. Crockery can be borrowed from homeowners and be returned safely. Surely we can approach our negociante (big or small) to donate too. Helping each other is very vital to eradicate this problem.
