GUIMARAS SEALS 2026 BUDGET: A PROMISE OF PROGRESS FOR THE PEOPLE

Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, officially signed the Annual Executive Budget of the Province of Guimaras for Fiscal Year 2026, as well as the Annual Executive Budget of the Local Economic Enterprise (DCGNMC) for the same fiscal year, today, November 21, 2025.
Appropriation Ordinance No. 2025-22, enacted by the 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan, allocates ₱1,288,465,420.00 for the general fund covering various expenditures for the operation of the Provincial Government of Guimaras and ₱334,640,000.00 for the Local Economic Enterprise covering the operation of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Medical Center (DCGNMC).

The Province of Guimaras officially rolled out the MAKABATA Helpline 1383 on November 18, 2025 at Olivia’s Kitchen and Island Brew in San Miguel, Jordan. The event was facilitated by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) in coordination with the Provincial Government of Guimaras through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The launch gathered members of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) and various stakeholders committed to advancing the welfare and protection of Guimarasnon children.

Ten research papers were presented during the 2nd Guimaras Research Conference held on October 16, 2025, at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall of Guimaras State University (GSU).
Research topics focused on agriculture, environmental management, and tourism featured researchers from Guimaras State University, BPI-Guimaras, and West Visayas State University.

The economy of Guimaras recorded a 3.9% growth in 2024, with the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimated at ₱18.15 billion in the same year. This was according to the report of the Philippine Statistics Authority–Guimaras Chief Statistical Specialist Nelida B. Losare during the Provincial Product Accounts Dissemination Forum held on October 7, 2025, at Olivia’s Kitchen and Island Brew, Jordan, Guimaras.
Although slower than the 8.2% growth recorded in 2023, the PSA noted that the 2024 performance still reflects a positive and resilient economy, showing steady expansion from ₱17.46 billion in 2023 to ₱18.15 billion in 2024.
