GUIMARAS NEW OFFICIALS BRIEFED ON STATE OF LOCAL GOVERNANCE

To mark the start of their new term in public service, newly elected officials of the Provincial Government of Guimaras were formally briefed on the current state of local governance and development challenges during the Executive Briefing on State of Local Governance held on July 7, 2025 at the Kapitolyo Probinsiyal sang Guimaras. This activity is part of the Newly Elected Officials Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service (NEO PLUS) program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Mandated by DILG Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2025, the briefing aims to help newly elected leaders understand local governance realities, identify priority areas for action, and define strategic directions at the start of their term.
“It has been a very productive afternoon especially for me. I’m thankful for everyone for sharing their insights and necessities nga ginaubra naton for us to reach this achievement. This is supposed to be a challenge for us, basically we need cooperation of each and every one for us to comply with critical planning, as well as the implementation of all projects and programs, and we cannot do it without all of you,” Governor Nava said.

Nava emphasized public service anchored on sincerity and integrity, calling on all elected officials to serve “not as mere officials, but as stewards of the province’s future,” united under the Kabataan FIRST agenda.

Guimaras athletes who brought pride and honor to the province during the 2025 Palarong Pambansa and Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet received cash incentives during the “Pasalamat” for outgoing provincial officials held on June 30, 2025 at the Kapitolyo Probinsyal sang Guimaras in San Miguel, Jordan.
Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, Congressman JC Rahman A. Nava, Vice Governor Cecile Gumarin and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Marilyn Edang gave the cash gifts to medalists of Palarong Pambansa and WVRAA 2025.

Congressman JC Rahman A. Nava, former governor of Guimaras, proudly presented the milestones of his three-year administration during the turnover ceremony held on June 30, 2025, at the Kapitolyo Probinsiyal sang Guimaras. In his address, he highlighted the transformative impact of his Kabataan FIRST agenda, which prioritized inclusive development, youth empowerment, and progressive governance.
Among the key accomplishments under his leadership was the successful attainment of 1 million tourist arrivals target, with more than a million tourists visiting the island province in 2024 – a historic first. This significant boost in tourism was further strengthened by the passage of the Guimaras Tourism Code and the establishment of a new economic enterprise, the Provincial Training and Enterprise Development Center (PTEDC). PTEDC now serves as the center for skills development and enterprise training, especially for youth and women.

Governor Nava expressed her sincere appreciation to Guimarasnons for the trust and confidence they have given her, stating that she is deeply honored to be chosen to lead the province. “My heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone of you for the trust and privileged opportunity you have bestowed upon me. It is with great honor that I embrace this vital responsibility and I am sincerely committed to serve the people of Guimaras with integrity and strong dedication, with compassion and firm resolve, and with a promise to put the interest of the people above all,” she declared.
