BaLinkbayan partnership inked with CFO

The Provincial Government of Guimaras and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) signed a memorandum of agreement as part of the province initiative to support its people working outside the Philippines and the families they left behind.

CFO aims to localize its e-governance project called BaLinkBayan: “Overseas Filipinos’ one-stop online portal for diaspora engagement”, as a way for the province to give better services to its overseas Filipino workers.

Ms. Marita D. Apattad, Project Management Division Director of CFO explained the rationale of the project.

“Marami po talagang naitutulong ang mga OFWs natin sa Pilipinas kaya natin ginawa yung diaspora engagement portal para meron po silang specific interest na gustong gawin dito and they would like to remain  rooted and close dito sa mother land. Dapat available yung information sa kanila para madali na lang sa kanila kong papanu nila gagawin yung mga activities they want to engage in,” Dir. Apattad said.

The localization of this project involves the establishment, development and maintenance of the BaLinkBayan webpage featuring migration and development (M&D).

It is a one-stop online portal that connects overseas Filipino individuals and communities to the mother land and serves as a platform of the province to ensure the better services to overseas Filipinos and their families.

The portal is designed to promote and support the channeling of remittances to more development-oriented activities. It encourages overseas Filipinos towards investments, entrepreneurship, needs-based donation, volunteerism in their homeland.

Moreover, it aims to provide overseas Filipinos with the most comprehensive online guide for engaging in the development of the Philippines through opportunities in investments, philanthropy, technology expertise and skills exchange, and special government services.
