DCGNPH opens COVID-19 ward

A COVID-19 ward has been opened at Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras on May 18, 2021.

The COVID-19 ward at the province’s biggest hospital is part of the response of the Provincial Government of Guimaras (PGG) to the COVID-19 pandemic which poses a serious public health risk and the province’s proactive response to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the island.

Governor Samuel T. Gumarin; Dr. JC Rahman A. Nava, former Governor and Congressman and now the consultant for hospital operation and health sector of the Provincial Government of Guimaras; and Dr. Bobby J. Yoro, DCGNPH OIC Chief of Hospital, led the formal opening and cutting of ribbon of the isolation ward located at the third floor of the facility.

Governor Gumarin stated that the goal of the Provincial Government since the start of the pandemic is to have an isolation ward at the island’s health care facility.

“Ang handum sang Probinsya sang Guimaras amo ang magpatindog kita sang isa ka isolation ward para sa benepisyo sang aton mga pamuluyo especially for the COVID patients naton with moderate symptoms and probably maka-cater kita sang mga severe COVID patients. For more than a year, gin-defer naton temporarily ang organizational structure sang bug-os nga health personnel sa Probinsya sang Guimaras para ma-solve naton ang kinahanglanon sang probinsya sang Guimaras, ang aton PQF (primary quarantine facility) and AQF (advance quarantine facility). And finally our isolation ward for COVID patients with the plan of Dr. JC Rahman Nava and also we’re here with the Vice Governor sa pag-resolve sang kinahanglanon sang aton hospital sa subong kag sa sunod nga mga tinu-ig may ara sang daku nga programa kag proyekto ang Probinsya sang Guimaras, only to protect the province from the COVID-19,” Gumarin said.

Dr. JC Rahman Nava said that the realization of the COVID-19 ward at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital is the fruit of everyone’s cooperation.

“Ang tanan nga kinahanglanon ginhatag para mahimo ang amo ni nga project. So, we are here today to open and bless the Isolation/COVID Ward. The fact nga ang third floor amo lang ang available nga facility nga puwede makay-o, that’s why ginhingagaw ini makay-o because of COVID wing para magamit nga COVID ward for the patients to this pandemic. And without sang support sang isa kag isa wala natigayon ang amo ni nga proyekto,” Nava said.

Dr. Nava likewise congratulated the people behind the project especially Governor Gumarin.

The isolation ward has a total number of ten air conditioned rooms with 20 bed capacity and with television set for patients.

The project was materialized after a series of meetings and discussion with various stakeholders including the Department of Health.

Dr. Bobby Yoro extended his gratitude to the people behind the COVID-19 ward project in behalf of Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital.

Rev. Fr. Jose Alex G. Serania of the San Miguel the Archangel Parish led the formal blessing of the facility’s rooms and offices.

The COVID-19 ward will cater COVID-19 positive patients who have moderate symptoms and with co-morbidities, severe and critical cases.

Selected medical personnel from the DCGNPH and Nueva Valencia District Hospital will be assigned to the isolation ward with the addition of newly hired medical professionals.
