GOVERNOR NAVA URGES TEACHERS AND PARENTS TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ONLINE THREATS

Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, joined the Department of Education–Schools Division of Guimaras in celebrating the 33rd National Children’s Month and Students’ Day today, November 21, 2025, at Ravina Sur Elementary School, Sibunag.

In her message, Governor Nava highlighted the importance of the Kabataan FIRST Development Agenda, emphasizing that children are at the heart of all provincial initiatives.

“All the initiatives, upod sang aton pinalangga nga Congressman JC Rahman Nava, ang Kabataan FIRST. Kun mabasahan ninyo, kabataan ang una. So, in any initiative sa probinsya, ginauna naton ang kabataan,” she said.

She expressed her gratitude to the parents and teachers, whom she described as children’s closest protectors. Governor Nava also challenged them to strengthen their role in shielding learners from online threats and abuse.

“Mga ginikanan, mga teacher, buligan naton shield ang aton kabataan from the dangers lurking behind the screens. I-guide naton sila nga masulod sa ila minds would be things that would benefit them in the future,” she added.

She likewise encouraged students to focus on their studies and continue striving for their dreams.

A total of 166 learners from Kinder to Grade 6 received medical and dental services through the collaboration of DepEd, the Provincial DOH Office, and MHO Sibunag.

The activity was also attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Marilyn Edang, along with officials from the DepEd Division of Guimaras led by Dr. Novelyn M. Vilchez, CESO V. Faculty members of Ravina Sur Elementary School, headed by OIC Dr. Nanette Galuno, were likewise present, together with representatives from DepEd Region VI, including Dr. Leonerico E. Barredo, Chief Education Supervisor; Dr. Frances Jade E. Caniban, Dentist III; Engr. Irene S. Magante; and Jennie Rose T. Jacela, Technical Assistant III.
