GUIMARAS CLINCHES ‘HIGH FUNCTIONAL’ RATING IN 2025 NATIONAL ANTI-DRUG ABUSE COUNCIL PERFORMANCE AUDIT

The Provincial Government of Guimaras has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to a drug-secure community, earning a “High Functional” rating in the 2025 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit.

The audit, conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), serves as the national benchmark for evaluating the effectiveness of local government units (LGUs) in implementing anti-illegal drug strategies. Guimaras’ high rating underscores the province’s success in harmonizing law enforcement, rehabilitation, and community-based prevention programs.

The 2025 performance audit assessed the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) on several critical indicators, including:Sustainability of Drug-Cleared Status: Maintaining the drug-cleared status of barangays across all five municipalities.

Resource Allocation: Consistent funding and implementation of the Local Anti-Illegal Drug Plan of Action (LADPA).

Community-Based Rehabilitation: The effective operation of Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Programs (CBDRP) and the Balay Silangan reformation centers.

Innovative Advocacy: Grassroots initiatives like the “Usapang BIDA” series and youth-led leadership trainings at Guimaras State University.

The provincial success was bolstered by the stellar performance of its component municipalities. Out of the five towns in Guimaras, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag each earned individual “High Functional” ratings.
