GUIMARAS HONORS OUTSTANDING TANODS

The Provincial Government of Guimaras recognized outstanding barangay tanods for their dedicated service in maintaining peace and order in their communities.

During the awarding ceremony on October 17, 2024 at Caza Guest House, San Miguel, Jordan Guimaras, outstanding barangay tanods from the five municipalities were commended for their bravery, discipline, and commitment to ensuring safety and security of the residents.

These barangays are the winners and finalists for the Provincial Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanods.

The recognition aims to motivate other tanods and community members to continue their vigilance in crime prevention and emergency response.

Under the 4th-6th class municipalities category, Barangay Maabay in the Municipality of Sibunag received a consolation prize of Php 10,000. Barangays Sta. Teresa in Jordan and Salvacion in the Municipality of Buenavista also received Php 10,000 respectively as finalists under the 1st-3rd class municipalities category.

Municipality of San Lorenzo’s Barangay Constancia emerged as the winner under the 4th-6th class municipality category and received a cash prize of Php 50,000 and plaque.

Barangay La Paz in the Municipality of Nueva Valencia was declared as the most outstanding barangay tanod in the province under the 1st-3rd class municipality category. It took home a trophy and Php 50,000.

Barangay Constancia and La Paz will represent the Province of Guimaras in the Regional Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod with Barangay Constancia aiming for the Hall of Fame Award after winning the regional competition for the last two years.

In the individual category, Mr. John Rey Lacrite, chief tanod of Barangay Constancia, was recognized as outstanding barangay tanod and will represent the province in the regional competition.

The Provincial Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod is part of a larger effort of the Provincial Government of Guimaras to empower local peacekeeping forces and strengthen community partnerships in law enforcement.
