GUIMARAS INAUGURATES TWO NEW RESCUE VEHICLES FROM SGLG INCENTIVE FUND

The Provincial Government of Guimaras (PGG) blessed and inaugurated two new rescue vehicles on September 2, 2025, at the Kapitolyo Probinsiya sang Guimaras, San Miguel, Jordan.

The vehicles were funded through the Php 3 million Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) awarded by the DILG after Guimaras successfully passed the 2024 SGLG validation, with a Php 200,000 provincial counterpart. The project, initiated by former Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD, was intended to strengthen the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and ensure faster, more efficient disaster response.

Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, stressed that the SGLG recognition is more than prestige: “This is more than just a matter of prestige, pride, and honor. This represents our commitment to good governance and disaster risk resilience. I hope that, award or not, we will continue to uphold that vision. Rest assured that with all the department heads and all five municipal governments, we will continue to stick with this. Whether we are monitored or not, we are still committed to upholding good governance. For us, it is not important that we are recognized, what is important is that we serve the people well and can deliver what the people are expecting from us.

“Vice Governor Cecile C. Gumarin expressed gratitude, saying, “We are deeply honored and grateful to be recognized as one of the beneficiaries of the SGLG Incentive Fund. Through this grant, the Provincial Government’s disaster response will be further improved. The presence of everyone here today as we proceed with the turnover is because you were instrumental in the achievement of this award.”

Meanwhile, DILG Region VI Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero lauded the province’s strong commitment to resilience and preparedness. “This milestone is not only for the turnover of the vehicles, it is also a testament to a shared vision of resilience, preparedness, and service to the people of Guimaras. This vehicle symbolizes hope, readiness, and the assurance that in times of calamities, emergencies, and disasters, the government will be there to respond swiftly and effectively. I commend the Provincial Government of Guimaras for its steadfast commitment to building safer, more resilient, and people-centered communities.”
