Guimaras sends off Manggahan contingent for Aliwan Fiesta

People and officials of Guimaras gathered in front of the Guimaras provincial museum on April 15, 2019 to witness the send-off ceremony for the contingent of the island province to this year’s Aliwan Fiesta.

Hubon Guimarasnon of Manggahan Festival will represent Guimaras in the battle of different cultural festivals in the Philippines on April 27, 2019 at the Star City Complex in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

The ceremony started with a mass officiated by Rev. Jose Alex G. Serania.

Fr. Serania assured the members of the Hubon of his prayers for them for a successful performance.

Governor Samuel T. Gumarin said that bagging the championship title in the Aliwan Fiesta is one of the goals of the province.

“This is the pride of Guimaras. Naka-three-peat kita sa Kasadyahan kag ang isa sa ginahandum sang probinsiya sang Guimaras is making its name not only sa mapa but also in the minds and in the hearts of… not only of Guimarasnons but also sang mga turista nga nagakadto diri. Isa na gid lang ang wala malab-ot sang probinsiya sang Guimaras, amo ini ang mag-number one kita sa Aliwan Festival,” Gumarin said.

Along with his assurance for the full support of the Provincial Government of Guimaras, Gumarin challenged Hubon Guimarasnon to bring home the title after bagging the first runner-up award in the said cultural tilt last year.

Aliwan Fiesta, organized by Manila Broadcasting Company with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, started in 2003 and now considered as the Philippines grandest fiesta.
