GUIMARAS SK LEARNS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUG CAMPAIGN IN 2-DAY SALBA-BIDA PROGRAM

Guimaras Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officers and members participated in the two-day youth resilience, disaster preparedness, and anti-illegal drug campaign dubbed as “Sagipin Lahat para sa Bayan-Buhay Ingatan Droga’y Ayawan” or SaLBa-BIDA program on June 26-27, 2024.

Guimaras Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD joined the first day of the event at Guimaras State University Agri-Eco Building where he thanked Guimaras SK Federation for their active participation during the Manggahan 2024 Kabataan Day celebration.

The Governor announced that his administration’s development agenda – KABATAAN FIRST – has been allocated Php 13 million for SK projects this year. He encouraged SK from the five municipalities to submit their project proposals as the funds are now ready and available.

SaLBa-BIDA program was a collaboration of the Provincial Government of Guimaras, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Guimaras and the SK Federation to capacitate and empower Guimaras youth on disaster preparedness and response and in combating illegal drugs in their communities. The activities include trainings and discussion on environmental laws, climate change, public safety and awareness, provincial drug situation, and revitalizing “pulis sa barangay”.

The second day of the event started with a zumba and fun run at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras, and ended with pledge of support for the anti-illegal drug campaign from the participants.
