HUBON SADSARAN OF NUEVA VALENCIA RECLAIMS GLORY AS CHAMPION OF MANGGAHAN’S CULTURAL COMPETITION

The vibrant colors, captivating rhythms, and rich cultural heritage of Guimaras took center stage once again at the Manggahan Festival 2025 Cultural Competition on May 25, 2025, culminating in a triumphant return to glory for Hubon Sadsaran of Nueva Valencia.

Hubon Sadsaran was declared as this year’s champion reclaiming the coveted title they last held in 2016, and in effect, halting the dream for a grand slam win of Sibunag’s Hubon Balsahan this year.

With a stunning and emotionally resonant performance, Hubon Sadsaran captured the hearts of both judges and audiences, earning not only the championship title and ₱1.5 million cash prize, but also sweeping several Special Awards:

Best in Production Design

Best in Music

Their performance stood as a testament to Nueva Valencia’s rich storytelling tradition and strong cultural identity.

Other major winners include:

First Runner-up: Hubon Balsahan which impressed the audience with dynamic choreography and commanding stage presence, bringing home ₱1 million and clinching the awards for Best in Choreography and Best in Performance.

Second Runner-up: Hubon San Lorenzohanon, was awarded ₱500,000 for their heartfelt and well-crafted presentation.

Consolation Prizes: Hubon Bulantihan of Jordan and Hubon Palayag of Buenavista both received ₱250,000 each, recognized for their commendable participation and cultural contributions.

The Cultural Competition remains one of the most anticipated highlights of the Manggahan Festival, showcasing the artistic brilliance and community spirit of the people of Guimaras through dance, music, and theatrical expression.
