The Province of Guimaras participated in the webinar (web-based seminar) on the COVID-19 National Communications Plan on May 6, 2020.

The seminar centered on the role of the government communicators in providing the community with streamlined and efficient information on the actions and initiatives undertaken by the government as the nation embarks on recovery from the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resource persons include Assistant Secretary Ramon Cualoping III of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire, Department of Social Welfare and Development spokesperson Director Irene Dumlao, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra, LTFRB Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran and AFP Deputy Chief for Civil Military Operations General Edgardo De Leon.

Western Visayas reports 11 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases in the region to 91 as of May 6, 2020.

The new cases includes 9 repatriated OFWs who are residents of Guimaras, Iloilo City, Negros Occidental, Bacolod City and Antique.

Arevalo District in Iloilo City logs 2 more cases of COVID-19.

The death toll in the Region 6 now stands at 10 while 31 patients have recovered.


Another Guimarasnon OFW tested positive of COVID-19.

The Province of Guimaras has no suspected COVID-19 case as to date.

He is one of the 5 Guimarasnon OFW repatriates that arrived in Iloilo City last April 29, 2020.

The patient is now quarantined at a hotel in Iloilo City.
