Of the 25 suspected COVID-19 cases in the Province of Guimaras 22 have tested negative, two with mild symptoms were not tested and have completed strict home quarantine and one is waiting for the result of the laboratory test.

Western Visayas records zero new cases of COVID-19 as of May 1, 2020. Of the 240 laboratory results released, 239 were negative while one repeat test turns out positive.

The Department of Health reports 284 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases in the country to 8,772 as of May 1, 2020. The number of recovered patients now stands at 1,084 while 579 have died.

The Province of Guimaras has one suspected COVID-19 case from the Municipality of Nueva Valencia waiting for laboratory result as of April 30, 2020.

Of the 25 suspected case recorded in the Province, 22 have tested negative of COVID-19, two with mild symptoms were not tested and completed strict home quarantine. Of these suspected cases, 20 have recovered, two have died of non-COVID related illness.


Guimaras COVID-19 Response Executive Committee conducted a special meeting on April 30, 2020 at the Provincial Covered Gym.

Governor Samuel T. Gumarin, MD, MPH presided the special meeting of the Guimaras COVID-19 Response Executive Committee on April 30, 2020.

The Committee outlined the policies under the modified Level 2 Response of the Guimaras COVID-19 Response Initiative as the Province will be placed under General Community Quarantine Effective 12:01 a.m. of May 1, 2020.

Also present during the meeting were Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava, Vice Governor Atty. John Edward G. Gando, former Congressman and Governor Dr. JC Rahman Nava, the Municipal Mayors, Municipal Health Officers, Guimaras Police Provincial Office OIC Provincial Director Police Col. Pablito B. Asmod Jr., Provincial Health Officer Dr. NL Cathrel Nava and representative from the Department of Health.

Western Visayas has not recorded new cases of COVID-19 as of April 30, 2020. The total number of cases remains at 66 with nine fatalities. As to date, 27 patients have recovered from the disease in Western Visayas.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country reached 8,488 as of April 30, 2020 with the addition of 276 new cases according to the Department of Health. The death toll now stands at 568 while 1,043 patients have recovered from the disease.
