OTOP HUB LAUNCHED IN GUIMARAS

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched its first One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub in the Province of Guimaras.

The products displayed in the OTOP Hub are proudly made in Guimaras which include mango-based products (piaya, tart, pickles, jam, juice, barquillos, mango scotch, sauce, ketchup among others); kalamansi-based products; bags; baskets; accessories; key chains; shirt among others.

During the opening on December 29, 2022 at the Guimaras Trade and Information Center in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD said that the OTOP Hub will be a convenient place for visitors who intend to have an overview of what they can get from the island province.

The local chief executive conveyed his gratitude to the DTI and other stakeholders for being an instrument in realizing the province’s dream to showcase its local products in one venue.

DTI Region 6 Assistant Regional Director Felisa Judith Degala said that the newly opened OTOP Hub will promote and champion local products of Guimaras.

The OTOP Hub in Guimaras is the fifth of its kind in Western Visayas.

She added that 32 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Guimaras have committed to sell and display their products at the OTOP Hub.

These MSMEs are already beneficiaries of technical and marketing assistance provided by the Department of Trade and Industry and other partner agencies to enhance their products.

Degala disclosed that an extension of the OTOP Hub will be established in Jordan Wharf at Barangay Rizal in the Municipality of Jordan.

The OTOP Hub Project of the Department of Trade and Industry is a one-stop retail store where market-ready products offering of a local community can be found and caters to the general mainstream market of both local buyers and tourists.

This is one of the flagship market access program of the DTI in partnership with the local government units (LGUs) that aims to help the micro, small, and medium enterprises in the country to level up their products and encourage inclusive economic growth.
