TALENT COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS GUIMARAS’ CHILDREN’S MONTH CULMINATING ACTIVITY

Around 540 children and adults gathered to join the Provincial Children’s Day celebration on November 29, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol Gym, San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.

The activity kicked off with a foot parade participated by children from the five municipalities of the province together with their respective Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC).

Poster Making, Kanta na Kabataan, Binalaybay, and Hip Hop Dance Competition banner this year’s celebration.

The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All”.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD emphasized in his message that the future of these children will also be the future of the Province of Guimaras.

Kabataan FIRST, his three-year development road map, will ensure a bright future for the youth in Guimaras according to the governor.

“Kabataan FIRST agenda will guarantee the future of kabataan in Guimaras through holistic approach which involves every family,” he added. Governor Nava assured that the rights of every child in Guimaras will be protected.

The Provincial Government invests in the future by investing in the children and the youth of the province according to Nava.

The Governor then led the recitation of Panatang Makabata during the activity.

The Municipality of Jordan won the Poster Making Contest in Secondary Category while Nueva Valencia placed first in Elementary Category.

The representatives of Nueva Valencia town were declared champion in “Kanta na Kabataan” and Binalaybay competition.

The Municipality of Buenavista won the Hip Hop Dance Competition.

Guimaras Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD likewise graced the event.

In conjunction with the Provincial Children’s Month celebration, the Department of Health and Provincial Health Office launched the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine for children.

Two vaccinees from each municipality were inoculated with HPV vaccine during the ceremonial vaccination.

On January 2024, HPV vaccination will begin in the province of Guimaras where young children ages 9-14 years old will receive their first dose of HPV vaccine.

One school in every municipality will serve as pilot site for the administration of HPV vaccine in the Province of Guimaras.
