GOVERNOR NAVA PITCHES PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP FOR GUIMARAS ECONOMIC GROWTH

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD has called for a stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to propel economic growth in the province of Guimaras. In a speech delivered during the Guimaras Business Forum 2024 on December 10, 2024 at Guimaras Mountain Resort, the governor emphasized the transformative potential of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in creating sustainable development opportunities and addressing key challenges faced by the province.

GUIMARAS CONFERRED WITH SEAL OF GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE

For the second consecutive year, the Province of Guimaras joins the ranks of exemplary local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines as it is conferred the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the awarding ceremony on December 9, 2024 at Manila Hotel.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD accepted the award together with DILG-Guimaras Provincial Director Roselyn B. Quintana, CESO V, and Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD.

GUIMARAS LIFTS PORK BAN

The Provincial Government of Guimaras has lifted the temporary ban on the entry of live pigs, pork, pork products and by-products in the province. Governor JC Rahman A. Nava MD issued Executive Order No. 86 dated December 2, 2024 lifting the temporary ban which was imposed in October 2022 due to African Swine Fever (ASF). The governor underscored that Western Visayas is on the road to recovery as far as ASF is concerned.

Although the ban was lifted, Gov. Nava emphasized that the movement of swine, pork and pork products and by-products in the Province of Guimaras is still subject to compliance with regulatory requirements.

OUTSTANDING BARANGAYS ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RECEIVE ‘ToMan” AWARDS

The Provincial Government of Guimaras honored outstanding barangays for their exemplary contributions to environmental management and sustainable practices during the Environmental Awards and Recognition – The Oustanding Manager for Environmental Management (ToMan) Awarding Ceremony on November 29, 2024 at Fatima Farms Resort, San Enrique in the Municipality of San Lorenzo.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Guimaras Environment and Natural Resources Office (GENRO), is part of the province’s continued efforts to promote environmental stewardship at the grassroots level, fostering a culture of sustainability across communities.

GUIMARAS RANKS 8TH AMONG FASTEST-GROWING ECONOMY IN PHILIPPINES

The island province of Guimaras has achieved an extraordinary milestone, ranking as the 8th fastest-growing economy in the Philippines, according to recent data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

PSA-Guimaras chief statistical specialist Nelida Losare said that the data is based on the result of Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) estimation for all 82 provinces and 33 highly urbanized cities in the country.
